Lesson on Properties of Prisms and Pyramids with 3D Printing Pens

The two lessons described here were of Primary 5 and 6 levels, where the first lesson focused on the properties (shape and number of faces, including lateral faces and bases) of different forms of prisms, and the second lesson focused on those of the pyramids. Students spent most of class time using 3D Printing Pens to draw different prisms and pyramids during the lesson (see figures below). Adopting an inquiry and student-centered approach for investigating the target properties, the classroom teacher led a whole-class discussion on those properties after the students had a chance to construct the solids.
