I am deeply proud to share that BMED Academy has been awarded the CUHK Outstanding Students Awards 2025 in the category of Social Service – Serving the Society. This recognition is not only a celebration of the students’ outstanding work, but also a meaningful milestone marking six years of sustained effort, collaboration, and growth.
From the very beginning, BMED Academy was built on a shared belief: that mathematics education should not be confined to classrooms or examinations, but can and should serve the wider community. Over the past six years, I have had the privilege of supervising successive groups of students who have taken this belief to heart and transformed it into thoughtful, creative, and impactful action.
Throughout their journey, the students took on different roles within the Academy, learning to work as a team while developing distinct strengths. Some focused on crafting concise and accessible explanations of mathematical ideas for exam-focused posts. Others contributed through visual design, Instagram stories with multiple-choice questions, and fun-facts about mathematics to engage diverse student audience.
As their supervisor, I witnessed firsthand how these experiences deepened their teaching journey. They came to appreciate that mathematics education is not only about teaching mathematical content, but also clear communication, creativity, and relatedness, especially in digital spaces where attention is limited and audiences are diverse. These are insights that cannot be learned solely through coursework—they emerge through practice, reflection, and mentorship over time.
